How to use it

Formula
Calories per step = 0.045 kcal (reference rate at 70kg) × (your weight in kg ÷ 70) × pace multiplier (slow 0.85x, normal 1.0x, brisk 1.2x). Total calories = steps × calories per step. Distance = steps ÷ 2,000 (widely cited steps-per-mile approximation).

This uses a population-average approximation (0.04-0.05 kcal per step for an average adult, scaled linearly by body weight) and assumes roughly 2,000 steps per mile — both are estimates, not personal measurements. Real calorie burn also depends on your stride length, incline, terrain, and individual fitness level, any of which can shift the true number by a meaningful margin.
