How is the letter grade determined?

What if I only know some of my scores so far?

Why does the chart show unequal slice sizes?

Each slice size reflects that item's actual contribution to your final grade — score × weight — not just its raw weight, so a low score on a heavily weighted item shows as a smaller slice.

How do I figure out what I need on a final exam to get a target grade?

Enter all your other graded items normally, then add the final exam as a row with its actual weight and experiment with different scores until the final percentage matches your target.

What's the difference between this and the GPA Calculator?

Can Max points be different for each assignment?

Yes — each row has its own Max, so a quiz out of 20 and a final out of 100 are both handled correctly; the score is normalized to a percentage before weighting.

Does extra credit push the grade above 100%?

Yes, if you enter a score higher than that row's Max (for example 105/100) — the tool doesn't cap individual scores, so legitimate extra credit is reflected in the final percentage.

• Weights should add up to 100% for the result to represent a true final grade — the tool flags it if they don't.
